Yep! And it's sometimes impossible to discern compliments from criticism. I call them "backhanded compliments." Two of my most memorable was "well, you're not unattractive" and "you'd be beautiful with a little work."

I think the reason why I've stayed so long (other than financial reasons) is because it wasn't always bad. There were times when everything is just normal and happy.
But that changes.
